FLORIAN KRUMPÖCK | Piano & Conducting

Florian Krumpöck, the son of a cellist and an art historian, boasts an impressive musical journey. He received guidance from notable mentors such as Rudolf Buchbinder, Gerhard Oppitz, and the renowned pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja. Daniel Barenboim, after witnessing his piano performance, praised Krumpöck as a «simply wonderful pianist.» This recognition marked the beginning of a promising international career.

Following Barenboim’s advice, Krumpöck expanded his repertoire to encompass a wide range of symphonic works and operas, gradually transitioning into conducting.

  • In 2011, Krumpöck was appointed as the Music Director for concerts and opera at the Rostock Volkstheater and assumed the role of Principal Conductor of the Norddeutsche Philharmonie. In 2012, he took on the position of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra. His career milestones included a debut at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen, where he conducted the Royal Danish Orchestra, featuring two open-air concerts and a production of «Der Rosenkavalier,» directed by Marco Arturo Marelli.

  • Florian Krumpöck has appeared as a guest conductor with significant orchestras, leaving a profound impact on the global music scene. Notable engagements include leading the Vienna Symphony Orchestra at the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra, directing the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and collaborating with the Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon, the Royal Danish Chapel Copenhagen, the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, the Halle State Philharmonic, the Nuremberg State Philharmonic, the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, and the orchestra of the Opéra National de Montpellier. He has also graced numerous orchestras in China and South Korea with his conducting artistry. In 2012, he served as the Chief Conductor for «Rigoletto» at the Opera Festival in Gars am Kamp.

  • Moreover, in 2015, Florian Krumpöck had the honor of conducting the traditional New Year’s concert at the Great Festival Hall in Salzburg, featuring Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.

  • Florian Krumpöck’s diverse work as an artist is extensively documented through numerous CD recordings, both as a pianist and conductor, radio broadcasts, and various television portraits. His dedication to music led him to embark on a complete recording of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas and a comprehensive recording of all complete piano sonatas by Franz Schubert, commencing in September 2017.

  • In October 2023, music enthusiasts can anticipate the release of his debut album for Sony Classical, featuring solo works by Frédéric Chopin.

  • Since the summer of 2015, Florian Krumpöck has also served as the Intendant of the Kultur.Sommer.Semmering, in Austria, further contributing to the enrichment of the cultural International landscape.
