Stefano Bollani, pianista y compositor italiano, ha trabajado con directores como Zubin Mehta, Daniel Harding, Kristjan Järvi, Leonard Slatkin, Gianandrea Noseda, Antonio Pappano y con muchas orquestas sinfónicas destacadas, incluida la Orquesta de la Academia Nacional de Santa Cecilia (Roma). , Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, Orquesta de París, Orquesta de Lyon, Danish Radio Orchestra y Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Con la Orquesta Filarmónica de Teatro Regio en Turín, dirigida por Jan Latham-Koenig, ha grabado el concierto de Poulenc champêtre (AVIE Records 2007). Y con la Liepzig Gewandhaus Orchestra y Riccardo Chailly, ha grabado Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue y Concerto in F (Decca 2010), y Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G (Decca 2012). Su álbum de Gershwin ha llegado a ser Disco de Platino en Italia y ha estado en el Top de las listas durante varias semanas; presentando el mismo repertorio, también ha lanzado el DVD Live en La Scala, tocando con la Orquesta Filarmónica de Scala bajo la batuta del maestro Chailly. Como compositor, ha escrito Concertone, un álbum para trío y orquesta de jazz que grabó con Orchestra della Toscana (Label Bleu 2004, producido y dirigido por Paolo Silvestri). Su nuevo trabajo como compositor, Concerto azzurro para piano y orquesta, se estrenó en el Maggio Musicale Fiorentino en mayo de 2017. A cracking Concerto and a Rhapsody that could have been a classic…
The performance of the Concerto is the finest I have ever heard. Gershwin may have doffed his hat to Rachmaninov, Puccini and Ravel at various junctures in the score but this, as Chailly and jazz pianist Stefano Bollani are intent on reminding us, is an American Jazz Age concerto. Inhibitions are left backstage and, while all parties are alive to the smallest detail, there is an irreverence and spontaneity which capture the spirit of the work like no other. Applause, too, for the atmospheric solo trumpet (and the fourth horn’s sforzandos!) in the slow movement.Saber más
