Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Iván Martín is today recognized by critics and the public as one of the most brilliant musicians of his generation, both in Spain and abroad.

About Ivan Martin

He has performed premieres being the dedicatee of works by composers such as Joan Albert Amargós, Benet Casablancas, Antón García Abril, Cristóbal Halffter, Pilar Jurado, Michael Nyman, Enric Palomar or Ramón Paus. He has made his debut as a conductor with the orchestras Real Filharmonía de Santiago, Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Sinfónica de Galicia, Sinfónica de Baleares, Sinfónica de Extremadura, ADDA Sinfónica, Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, Orquesta Nacional de España, Chamber Orchestra of Almada (Portugal) and Wiener Kamerorchester, and is the founder and musical director of “Galdós Ensemble”, a new and versatile orchestral group with the aim of performing music from the baroque period and classicism, as well as modern and contemporary music. Aware of the importance of chamber music, he has collaborated with artists such as Natalia Lomeiko, Yuri Zhislin, Gordan Nicolic, Massimo Spadano, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Asier Polo, Nuria Rial or María José Montiel, in various ensembles and repertoires. He has recorded numerous radio and television programs in Spain, France, Italy, Brazil and the United States. His recordings for Warner Music and Sony Classical, dedicated to the composers Antonio Soler, Mozart, Schröter and Beethoven, have been warmly received by the public and critics, being considered as a reference, as well as nominations for important awards. He has recently released two important recording projects, an album dedicated to Schubert, Brahms and Bruch with the artists Natalia Lomeiko and Yuri Zhislin for the Orchid Classics label, which has obtained five stars in the prestigious BBC Magazine, and a collaboration with the composer Joan Valent in an album for the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label. Iván Martín has been artist-in-residence with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria and the Centro Cultural Miguel Delibes in Valladolid, and is, since the 2018/2019 season, principal conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Burgos.
